Military General Service 1793-1814, 2 clasps, Nivelle, Nive (Jas. Light, 76th Foot) edge bruising and polished, otherwise nearly very fine £700-£900

Provenance: Elson Collection, Glendining’s, 1963; Dix Noonan Webb, December 2007.

James Light was born in Salisbury, Wiltshire, and attested there for the 76th Foot on 6 December 1810, aged 18, for unlimited service. He served 16 years 293 days, and was discharged at Waterford on 24 September 1827, ‘at the request of Colonel Wardlaw, 76th Regiment’.
