Indian Mutiny 1857-59, 1 clasp, Central India (Armr. Sgt. Wm. Carruthers, 8th Hussars.) light contact marks; Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (132. Arm: Sjt. W. Carrothers [sic], 8th Hussrs.) mounted for display, minor edge bruising, generally very fine (2) £400-£440

William Carruthers was born in County Meath, Ireland, and attested for General Service at Westminster in January 1856. He was posted as an Armourer Sergeant to the 8th Hussars in September 1857. Carruthers was discharged, 3 December 1878, having served 22 years and 333 days with the Colours.
