James Edward Fasken served on the Staff, 4th Army, in France and Flanders from August to December 1914, and from May 1915 until November 1918. In addition to the award of his M.C., he was twice mentioned in despatches (London Gazettes 1 January 1916 and 10 July 1917), and was awarded the French Medal of Recognition, 3rd Class (Services of Military Officers 1920, refers).
