Charles I (1625-1649), Oxford mint, Shilling, 1644, mm. Shrewsbury plume on obv. only, Rawlins’ bust with r on shoulder, rev. Declaration in three lines, three Oxford plumes between lozenges above, date and ox below between lozenges, lozenge between colons at start of legend, 5.96g/4h (Morr. E-3; cf. SCBI Brooker 934; N 2441; S 2974). On a slightly irregular flan, very fine and toned, the die-combination extremely rare £600-£800
