Suntokh Singh (listed as ‘ Santokh Sing’ on published transcription of casualty roll) was severely wounded in action when he received a bullet to the right thigh at Ahmed Khel, 19 April 1880.

Thirteen members of the regiment were awarded the Indian Order of Merit for their gallantry during a cavalry charge at Ahmed Khel.
