George Birks was born in St. Clements, London, and attested for the 11th Light Dragoons at Canterbury, in April 1815. He served with the Regiment in India, July 1819 - June 1829. Birks was discharged medically unfit, 4 August 1829, having served 14 years and 110 days with the Colours. He died in London in February 1859.
