18th Century Tokens, Essex, Hornchurch, George Cotton, Proof Halfpenny, in silver, crowned bust of Edward IV right, sloping top to 1 of date, rev. crowned arms, extended line under castle, rose at point, edge plain, 12.25g/6h (DH 33, but not recorded as a silver Proof). Light marks in fields both sides visible on close inspection, otherwise extremely fine with attractive mottled grey tone, of the highest rarity and the only specimen known to the cataloguer (£400-600)

This lot was sold as part of a special collection, The Collection of British Tokens formed by Eileen Judson.

No mention of a silver Proof is made by Doty in his article in
CTCJ, and no example was included in any of the major token collections dispersed in the 20th century
