Bernard James Macdonald was born in Birmingham in 1894, and attested for the Royal Field Artillery. He served during the Great War on the Western Front from 1 April 1915 and was awarded the Military Medal whilst employed as an Acting Bombardier with ‘A’ Battery, 242nd South Midland Brigade, Royal Field Artillery, part of 48th (South Midland) Division. He died at Smethwick, Warley, West Midlands, on 3 October 1975.
