A George III gold pair cased pocket watch by Hampston & Prince, York, the white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, outer minute chapter ring, (one hand missing, the second broken), the dust cover signed, the movement signed and numbered ‘285’, the early fusee cylinder escapement with flared square section columns, pierced engraved balance cock and rose-cut diamond endstone, the inner and outer gold cases both hallmarked for London, 1779, maker’s initials ‘IW’, the outer case decorated with bright-cut floral and foliate decoration, and with central engraved monogram to the reverse, (glass lacking), width of inner case 3.8cm, outer case 4.7cm. £600-800
