Indian Mutiny 1857-59, 1 clasp, Central India (Gunr. Jas. Moore, 2nd Tp. H. Bde. Bombay Arty.) good very fine £300-360

James Moore attested to join the Bombay Horse Artillery on 13 February 1840, at Limerick. He was born 1813 and was then residing at Newmarket, County Clare, a labourer by occupation. He sailed on the Simon Taylor and arrived at Karachi on 20 February 1841, where he was assigned to the 2nd Troop Horse Brigade.

During the mutiny he was present as No. 558 Gunner 2nd Troop Horse Brigade, at the actions of Jhansi, Calpi and at Gwalior, serving under Major-General Roberts. He was pensioned to India 16 June 1860, and died of general debility on 19 March 1883, and was buried at Poona on the 30 March 1883, aged 70. Sold with comprehensive research.
