, 1st type, Member’s (M.B.E.) Military Division breast badge, silver, hallmarks for London, 1919; General Service 1918-62, 2 clasps, Iraq, N.W. Persia (Lieut.), suspension slack and minor edge bruising on last, very fine and better (2) £180-220

M.B.E. London Gazette 9.9.1921. Temporary Lieutenant, Service Battalions, Gloucestershire Regiment, attached Royal Corps of Signals. ‘For valuable services in connection with military operations in Mesopotamia’.

Lieutenant McCarthy served on detachment to No.2 Wireless Company ‘A’ Corps Signals during operations in Waziristan 1919-21.
