The individually mounted group of four minature dress medals attributed to Colonel Michael White, 3rd Dragoons, Late 11th Light Dragoons, Army of India, 1 clasp, Bhurtpoor, 17mm.; Cabul, 1 clasp, Cabul, 17mm., engraved ‘Cabul 1842’ on reverse; Sutlej, 3 clasps, Moodkee, Ferozeshah, Sobraon, 13mm.; Punjab, 2 clasps, Chillianwalla, Goojerat, 16mm., each individually mounted from full-size ribbon, with silver-gilt straight bar suspension, buckle and brooch bar, good very fine (4) £500-600

Colonel Michael White entered the British Army as an Ensign in 1804 and was promoted Lieutenant in the following year and Captain in 1815. He served with the 11th Light Dragoons in the Mahratta Campaigns of 1817-18 and at the siege of Bhurtpoor in 1826. Appointed Lieutenant-Colonel in 1839 , he commanded a brigade in the war in Afghanistan, for which he was appointed a C.B. With the 3rd Dragoons in the Sikh Wars, he was wounded at the battle of Ferozeshuhur. Promoted Colonel in 1846, he was subsequently appointed an Aide-de-Camp to the Queen.
