Three: Flight Sergeant G. H. Davison, No. 613 Squadron, who carried out Anti-Aircraft Calibration flights in Lysanders over London during the Battle of Britain and was later killed in action with No. 83 Squadron
1939-45 Star; Air Crew Europe Star; War Medal, together with several photographs and the recipient’s two Observer’s and Air Gunner’s Flying Log Books for the period June 1940 to April 1942, good very fine (3)

The recipient joined No. 613 Squadron in August 1940, as an Air Gunner on Lysanders, and was engaged on Anti-Aircraft Calibration flights over London during the Battle of Britain. These dangerous duties in defenseless Lysanders, vulnerable to attack from enemy fighters, were essential to the ground based anti-aircraft batteries during the frequent raids on London during the Battle. Indeed, on 27 October, his Lysander was subjected to an attack by a Me-109 which was thankfully chased off by Hurricanes. His Flying Log Book makes several mentions sightings of enemy aircraft and dog fights. Davison was posted to No. 83 Squadron at Scampton the following March, during which month he flew Manchesters on sorties against Cologne on the 13th and Lubeck on the 28th. The following month he flew against Essen on the 6th and Hamburg on the 8th. His Flying Log Book records that he was killed in action on 13 April 1942, his final sortie being against Essen on the night of 12th/13th April.
