A.F.M. London Gazette 9 June 1949. Approximately 124 George VI 2nd type A.F.M.’s awarded.

Master Engineer John Fred Grove Martin served with No. 110 Squadron in the Far East from 19 April 1943; posted to No. 34 Squadron, also in the Far East, late in 1944, returning to England on 9 August 1945, where he was attached to St Athan Station as an Instructor at the Flight Engineers School. Posted to No. 51 Squadron at Bassingbourne on 1 May 1947, and received his L.S. & G.C. medal on 6 September 1949. He retired from the Royal Air Force on 21 April 1952.
