Albert Hall was born in Dover on 4 April 1865 and first entered as a Stoker 2nd Class aboard H.M.S. PEMBROKE on 3 June 1887. Served aboard H.M. Ships BACCHANTE (1887-88) where he was advanced to Stoker in June 1888, and BOADICEA (22 July 1888 to 23 June 1891) earning the East and West Africa medal and clasp. Completing his service afloat aboard HOOD (1893-96) and WYE (1898-99) from which he was discharged to shore, on completion of his twelve year engagement on 12 June 1899.
