A.B. and Trained Man.
Born Gloucester on 9 April 1842. Joined the service as Boy 2nd Class aboard H.M.S. IMPREGNABLE on 10 May 1859, being discharged to H.M.S. ST GEORGE on 20 June I860 and advanced to "Ord" in April 1861 and to Able Seaman on 1st January 1864. Whilst aboard H.M.S. AURORA was sent to prison ashore in Barbados for a month, followed by exactly similar treatment aboard H.M.S. DAUNTLESS in Quebec from 9 February 1867 becoming "Indifferent" in his character assessment. It is highly probable that the Navy, or the man himself, ended his time in the service in 1867.
