James Thomas Davis served as Second Master in charge on board the SEAFLOWER cutter, on the Home station, from August 1836 until November 1841, when he was advanced to Master. He served subsequently in the VIRAGO from June 1843 until November 1847, and in the CLEOPATRA from April 1849 until September 1853. As Master of the TRITON he earned the Crimea medal without clasp, and retired as Staff Commander in 1863.
