Benjamin White was born at Yarmouth in 1829 and joined H.M.S. DEE from PANTALOON on 18 March 1848 as an ‘Unpassed Clerk’. He passed his examination for Paymaster on 6 June 1849, but was soon to die at sea aboard DEE on 5 December 1850, his medal being granted posthumously.
