Three: Private R. H. Nankervis, 12th South African Infantry, late Bugler, Imperial Light Infantry, Prince of Wales Light Horse and Band Master of the Krugerdorp Town Band

Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 7 clasps, Tugela Heights, Relief of Ladysmith, Transvaal, Laing’s Nek, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, South Africa 1901 (265 Bugr., Imp. Lt. Infy.) clasps mounted in order stated, with unofficial rivets attaching top three; British War and bilingual Victory Medals (Pte., 12th S.A.I.); together with the recipient’s Band Master’s baton, with upper, lower and central engraved bands, hallmarks for London 1909, the central band inscribed ‘Presented to R. H. Nankervis by the Mayor Richardson, 8-7-15, contained in its fitted case; an interesting scrap book, containing numerous music sheets, newspaper cuttings, etc, including his original Imperial Light Infantry Discharge Certificate and Record of Service for the Great War, this latter confirming his service in German East Africa 1916-17, bindings distressed, the first with official correction to surname and some edge bruising, otherwise nearly very fine or better (3) £300-400

Sold with confirmation of Q.S.A. clasp entitlement, confirming the fact that the C.C. and O.F.S. clasps were issued seperately. The South Africa 1901 clasp was earned as a result of his subsequent service with the Prince of Wales’ Light Horse.
