A Great War M.C. and Second Award Bar, converted for wear as a brooch, medal with suspension removed and second award bar with reverse carriage removed, the bar neatly soldered to the top arm of cross, reverse of cross contemporarily inscribed ‘Lieut. J. C. De Lacy, Royal Irish Rifles, Somme Sept. 1916’, with brooch fitting, a little polished, otherwise very fine £300-350

Bar to M.C. London Gazette 16 September 1918 (Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers). ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When all senior officers had become casualties, he was put in command of the battalion. After the front line had been driven back, he personally went back into the line to clear up the situation, having three men killed. He showed a splendid example to all.’
