British Empire Medal, (Civil) E.II.R. (Miss Eileen Theresa Donnelly) on bow ribbon, in Royal Mint case of issue, extremely fine £100-140

B.E.M. London Gazette 1 January 1974. 'Miss Eileen Theresa Donnelly, Telephone Supervisor, Belfast, Northern Ireland Postal and Telecommunication Board.'

A 'citation' for the B.E.M. reads, 'Miss Donnelly has remained in charge of the operator services in Londonderry throughout the civil disturbances in the City; steadying the Staff by her own courage and devotion to duty and acting with cool presence of mind and quiet authority in the many emergencies they have faced.'

With original Central Chancery award documents (2) for the Imperial Service Medal to Miss Eileen Theresa Donnelly, B.E.M. (
London Gazette 19 July 1977) and to Miss Patricia Josephine Donnelly. With three photographs of Miss Donnelly at the time of the presentation of the B.E.M.; with copied 'citation' and gazette extract.
