A Great War A.R.R.C. group of three awarded to Sister Isabel Marion Mackintosh, British Royal Red Cross Society

Royal Red Cross, 2nd Class (A.R.R.C.), G.V.R., silver and enamel, on bow ribbon; 1914 Star (I. M. Mackintosh, B.R.C.S. & St. J.J.); Victory Medal 1914-19 (I. M. Macintosh, B.R.C. & St. J.J.) note variation in surname; together with an erased British War Medal 1914-20, the four medals held in a leather case, very fine (4) £240-280

A.R.R.C. London Gazette 24 October 1917. ‘Miss Mabel Marion Macintosh, Sister, Bermondsey Mil. Hospital’. (note incorrect Christian name).

With copied m.i.c. - name given as ‘Isabel Marion Mackintosh’, shown as serving with both the British and French Red Cross, entering France on 9 November 1914. Returning to England, she later served at the Bermondsey Military Hospital and was awarded the A.R.R.C.

With a copied extract for the ‘Register of Persons on whom the Queen has conferred the Decoration of the Royal Red Cross’, her hand-written name, ‘Miss Mabel M. Macintosh’ has been corrected to ‘Miss Isabel Marion Mackintosh’. It further states that she was ‘Decorated by the King at Buckingham Palace 20.4.18.’ Also with copied gazette extract.
