Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal (8291 Cpl. 49th Coy. 9th Impl. Yeo.); King’s South Africa 1901-02, 2 clasps (Lieut., I.Y.) scratch to right of Queen’s head, some edge bruising, very fine and better (2) £200-250

John Evans was born in Stratford, London. He attested for short service with the Imperial Yeomanry at Welshpool on 9 January 1900. He was posted to the 49th (Montgomeryshire) Company, 9th Battalion Imperial Yeomanry and served in South Africa, from March 1900. He was granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant in the Army on 29 April 1901. He relinquished his commission and was granted the honorary rank of Lieutenant in the Army on 28 September 1902. With copied service papers.
