Radichio’, slot brooch; Army Good Conduct Medal, reverse hand engraved, ‘Peter A. Radichio’; American Defense Medal; American Campaign Medal; European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, one arrowhead, one silver and one bronze star emblem on ribbon; Victory Medal 1945; Conspicuous Service Cross, unofficial; Normandy Medal, unofficial, nearly extremely fine (9) £300-400

Peter A. Radichio was born on 16 October 1915. Served as an Army Sergeant and Medic with the 39th Infantry Regiment, 9th Division during World War 2. After the war he served as a Mechanic for American Airlines in Los Angeles and later was the owner of several service stations and a bar and grill in Long Island, New York. Latterly living in Homosassa and St. Petersburg, Florida, he died on 14 November 2003.

With a photocopied photograph of Radichio at the wheel of of a jeep ‘ambulance’; the caption reads, ‘This is the 9th Medical Battalion’s versatile jeep that has been converted into a five-stretcher ambulance for use in evacuating patients where regular ambulances are not available. Sgt. Radichio, shown at the wheel, and Capt. William Althoff, S-3 of the Battalion, worked out the idea.’

With some other copied research and with metal identity disk stamped, ‘Type B 32019646 21141 62845 Ent Dis 9 Medical Bn9Div.’; riband bars, Combat Medical Badge and other metal and cloth badges for display purposes.
