John Douglas Campbell was born in Liverpool on 22 January 1891. A Clerk by occupation, he joined the 14th Canadian Infantry at Valcartier, Quebec on 22 September 1914. Posted to France/Flanders and ranked as a Sergeant in the 14th Battalion, he was killed in action, 3 June 1916, aged 24 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. Sergeant Campbell was the husband of Mrs T. Campbell, of 174 Bedford Road, Bootle, Liverpool. With copied attestation paper and casualty details.
