John Edward Corby was born in Empingham, Rutland, lived in Knutsford, Cheshire and enlisted at Wrexham. Serving with the 11th Battalion Royal Welsh Fusiliers, he was killed in action, Salonika, on 15 November 1917, aged 31 years. He was buried in the Doiran Military Cemetery, Greece.
