M.C. London Gazette 26 April 1917: ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in command of a raiding party. He led his men in a most gallant manner to their objective and inflicted many casualties on the enemy and captured four prisoners. He has on previous occasions done fine work.’
