John Adrian Myburgh served with No. 55 Squadron, Royal Flying Corps. On 8 April 1917 he took part in a bombing raid on the chateau housing the headquarters of Crown Prince Ruprecht’s Army Group. On the return trip Myburgh’s plane was hit by flak from Flakzug 17 and went down south-west of Amiens. Both Myburgh and his Observer died of wounds two days later on 10 April 1917.
