St Maarten, Eighteen Stuivers, c. 1817+, a very lightweight cut fifth segment of a Spanish-American 8 Réales, obv. countermarked st martin raised within a shaped indent, and design of seven bonded arrows raised within a shaped indent, 3.67g (Prid. p.258, fig. 37; KM. 12). Coin fair and toned, countermarks fine, rare £400-500

From the severely clipped state of the countermarks it is likely that this specimen was originally a cut quarter segment and was reduced when the dollar was revalued and the cut fifth segments were issued
