Captain Henry Murray was present with the Bengal Horse Artillery at the action of Badli-ki-Serai, siege of Delhi, actions at Nagafghur, Bulandshahr, and Agra, the second relief of Lucknow, the second battle of Cawnpore and subsequent pursuit, the action at Khudagunge, and the action at Shamshahbad (Medal with 2 clasps). He retired with the rank of Major in 1872.
