Powerful’, the movement inscribed ‘S. Smith & Son, 9 Strand, Swiss made, London, Watchmakers to the Admiralty’, movement in working order, a little polished, otherwise good condition £300-400

These pocket watches were presented by Lloyds of London to each member of the crew of H.M.S. Powerful who was present at the Siege of Ladysmith. They were heavily prized by their owners and not many of them appear to be surviving today.
