Joseph Bowler was born and enlisted in Abingdon, Berkshire. Serving with the 1st Battalion Royal Berkshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 21 September 1914. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the La Ferte-sous-Jouarre Memorial. Was entitled to a clasp to the 1914 Star.
