James Bradshaw Tootill was born in Bolton, Lancashire, lived in Radcliffe and enlisted at Bury. Serving with the 2/5th Battalion Lancshire Fusiliers, he was killed in action, in France, on 3 August 1916. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
