Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (850 Pte. G. Potter, Rl. Scots) good very fine £80-100

George Potter was born in Swainsthorpe, Norfolk. A Labourer by occupation and a member of the Norfolk Militia, he attested for the 16th Regiment at Norwich on 4 July 1868, aged 17 years, 6 months. He transferred to the Royal Scots in February 1869. Served overseas in the East Indies, February 1869-December 1880; West Indies, February 1883-October 1884, and South Africa, October 1884-October 1889. His long service medal was his only medallic award. Discharged in November 1889.
