Royal Academy of Arts, 1910, a silver award medal by T. Brock, bust of George V left, rev. the torso Belvedere, named (Hubert Donald MacGeoch Gilbert, For a Design in Releif, Dec. 10, 1925), 55mm (BHM 4017; E 1916); Ayr Amateur Photographic Society, a bronze plaque, unsigned, named (Awarded to J. Pratt), 50 x 39mm; a similar plaque, named (Ayr, 1913, Awarded to J. Pratt), 50 x 39mm [3]. About extremely fine; all in cases of issue, latter two by J.A. Restall £60-80

Provenance: First from the estate of the sculptor Donald Gilbert (1900-61), b. Burcot, Worcestershire, a student of the RA schools and the Royal College of Art. Gilbert’s depiction of George VI and Queen Elizabeth on the former’s 1937 coronation medal (see lot 1424) is heralded by Whittlestone and Ewing as ‘probably the finest depiction of the Royal couple to appear on a privately issued…medal, combining as it does excellent likenesses with an elegant and restrained modernism’
