Edgar Reynolds was born in Beverley, East Yorkshire. A Labourer by occupation and a member of the East Yorkshire Volunteers, he attested for the Yorkshire Imperial Yeomanry at Doncaster on 1 March 1901, aged 21 years. Later awarded the T.F.E.M. for service with the Yorkshire Hussars.
