William Charles Nobbs was born in Ascot, Berkshire. As a Private in the 11th Battalion London Regiment (Finsbury Rifles) he entered the Egypt theatre of war on 10 August 1915. He was killed in action on 19 April 1917, aged 22 years. He was buried in the Gaza War Cemetery. His parents were John and Annie Nobbs of Minchin Farm, Ascot, Berkshire.
