Arrival of Francisco de Lersundi y Hormaechea as Captain-General at Havana, 1867, a silver-gilt medal signed J.S. D. F.C., three shields of arms, crowned and against trophies, rev. legend around and below ornate arms, 41mm. Extremely fine £150-200

Francisco de Lersundi y Hormaechea (1817-74), Spanish nobleman and politician, Prime Minister in 1853. His appointment to Cuba, where he held office from 1866-9, was just one of many positions he held in a long political career
