Ellen R. Cross trained at The London Hospital, 1921-24. She was later Assistant Matron at the West Sussex County Mental Hospital and Assistant Matron at The Retreat, York. Appointed Matron of the Knowle Mental Hospital, Fareham, Hampshire in 1940.
