Beretta, German silver 10 Cents, c. 1889, legend around value, rev. legend around monogram, 21mm, 2.41g/12h (Sømod 4627; Higgie 402; Lyall Sale 850); German silver 5 Cents, c. 1889, similar, 19mm, 1.72g/12h (Sømod 4628; Higgie 401; Lyall Sale 849); German silver 3 Cents, c. 1889, similar, 17mm, 1.30g/12h (Sømod 4629; Higgie 400; Lyall Sale 848); together with a set of replica tokens [1964], for 10, 5 and 3 Cents, 2.48g/12h, 2.23g/12h, 1.78g/12h, all identically pierced at 3 o’clock as issued (Rulau B12, footnote) [6]. Provenance: Acquired directly from the Beretta family in Charlotte Amalie, 1966.

Obverses of first and second only illustrated. Giorgio Beretta (b. Italy), ship owner and shopkeeper, established in Charlotte Amalie by 1867. The replica tokens were struck in 1964 by MEKA, Copenhagen, from dies by the medallist Bent Jensen
