With copied extract from The Times of 29 December 1914 re the award of medals by Queen Alexandra to soldiers’ and sailors’ children.

The children, approx. 1,300, between the ages of 8 and 13 were selected by the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Families’ Association were the guests of the Lord Mayor of London at the Guildhall. The children were additionally treated to dinner, sweets and toys by their esteemed hosts. A number of Pensioners from the Chelsea Military Hospital also received medals.
