France, Centenary of the Foundation of Pechiney SA, 1955, an aluminium medal by P. Belmondo, conjoined busts of H. Merle, A. Pechiney and P. Heroult left, reverse Apollo creating lightning and making water gush from a rock, 68mm (cf. Simmons FPL 11, 478; cf. DNW 42, 533). Extremely fine; in original fitted black box (£15-25)

Pechiney SA, aluminium producer, founded in 1855 and later taken over by the French state. In 1971 it was merged with Société Ugine Kuhlmann, an aluminum maker and chemical company; as Pechiney Ugine Kuhlmann the business was nationalised by the French government in 1982
