M.C. London Gazette 25 August 1916 ‘For very gallant conduct and devotion to duty as forward observing officer. Under heavy fire he showed great determination and gallantry in finding an observation post and establishing communication.’

Major Lachlan Graham Campbell was educated at North Berwick High School and Edinburgh University. He was commissioned in October 1914 and went to France in July 1915, serving with the Royal Garrison Artillery, he commanded the 275th Siege Battery from February 1918 to March 1919.
