Memorial Plaque 1914-18 (2) (Laurence Briggs; Albert Arthur Dunkley) good very fine (2) £70-90

Laurence Briggs was born in Clayton, Bradford and enlisted at Bradford. He had served in the Royal Horse Artillery. Serving in “A” Company 9th Battalion King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 22 March 1918, aged 29 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial. He was the son of Timothy and Frances Annie Briggs of 16 Gaythorne Terrace, Clayton, Bradford and husband of Mary Jane Johnson (formerly Briggs, nee Silverwood) of Heath Terrace, Thornbury, Bradford.

Albert Arthur Dunkley was born in Nether Heyford, Northampton, lived at Kingsthorpe and enlisted at Bedford. He had served in the 3/1st Bedford Yeomanry. Serving in the 21st Squadron Machine Gun Corps (Cavalry), he died in Egypt on 6 October 1918. He was buried in the Ramleh War Cemetery.
