Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., V.R., narrow suspension (Hy. Palmer, Chf. Boatn., H.M. Coast Gd., 28 Yrs.), engraved naming, better than very fine £340-380

Henry Palmer was born at Malling, Kent in January 1824 and entered the Royal Navy as an Ordinary Seaman in January 1846. He subsequently witnessed active service in the Baltic, and off Sebastopol, aboard H.M.S. Algiers, prior to transferring to H.M. Coast Guard in October 1856. Palmer, who had a tattoo of Nelson’s column on his left arm, was finally pensioned as a Chief Boatman in March 1875, in which month he was issued with his L.S. & G.C. Medal; sold with copied research.
