George Stanley Wilson, who was born in October 1917, enlisted in the Royal Army Medical Corps at Leeds in August 1940, in which capacity he landed in Normandy in June 1944 as a member of 16th (British) Casualty Clearing Station. He subsequently transferred to the Royal Engineers and was released in August 1946; sold with a quantity of original documentation, including the recipient’s Soldier’s Service and Pay Book, and Soldier’s Release Book, together with assorted ephemera from his time in Belgium, France, Holland and Germany, including maps, pamphlets and dinner menus, etc.; and two R.E. cap badges.
