Albert Cooper, a Carman by occupation, enlisted into the Royal Field Artillery at St. Pancras on 19 April 1915, aged 28 years. At the time of his enlistment he address was 19 Barclay Street, St. Pancras, London.

In France he was posted to D/Bty, 256 Brigade R.F.A, which was equipped with 4.5 inch Howitzers and was part of 51st Highland Division. This became one of the most famous divisions of the First World War, and was awarded 6 Victoria Crosses. In 1918 after the final offensive by the Germans, the 51st Highland Division was pushed back in the area of Festubert, and many gun lines were surrounded. Gradually they consolidated and pushed the German Army back. Cooper latterly served in 135 Brigade. Sold with copied research.
