General Service 1918-62, 3 clasps, Malaya, Cyprus, Near East, G.VI.R. (Lt. S. Fletcher, R.E.) second and third clasps attached by cotton, slight edge bruising, good very fine £160-200

Stephenson Fletcher was born in Fulham on 4 May 1927. Received his first commission in the R.E. in June 1947 and was advanced to Lieutenant in August 1948. Posted to FARELF, he served with the Singapore Engineer Regiment, 1948-50. Promoted to Temporary Captain in October 1952 and confirmed in that rank in May 1954, he attained the rank of Major on 4 May 1961. He served in Cyprus and Egypt during the years 1956-58. Major Fletcher retired from the Army on 8 June 1961. Sold with a copied letter from the recipient detailing his military service.
