Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, dated reverse, no clasp (1380 Pte. J. Tasker, 15th Hussars) edge bruising and pitting, good fine and scarce £120-140

William Tasker (note incorrect initial on medal) originally joined the 9th Lancers (No. 1659) at Westminster on 25 October 1869, aged 20. He transferred to the 5th Lancers (No. 1344) in January 1872 and proceeded to India. In August 1874 he volunteered to the 15th Hussars (No. 1380) in which regiment there was already serving No. 1189 Private J. Tasker, possibly his brother. He served in Egypt attached to the 19th Hussars from 31 July to 9 September 1882. The 15th Hussars sent 2 officers and 17 other ranks to the 19th Hussars for service in Egypt, and 6 other ranks to various other corps.
