James Boardman was born and lived in Bolton, Lancashire and enlisted at Preston. Serving with the 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Regiment, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 1 September 1918. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
